110 units of blood collected during a camp at Ivy Hospital

Mohali, September 17: No less than 110 units of blood were collected during a mega blood donation
camp at Ivy Hospital in Mohali on Saturday. The camp was organized by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha
(BJYM) to mark PM Narendra Modi’s 72nd birthday.
Dr Kanwaldeep, MD Ivy Group of Hospitals with Subhash Sharma, BJP Punjab General
secretary inaugurated the camp.
Dr Kanwaldeep said an adequate supply can only be ensured through regular donations.
The transfusion of blood and blood components helps save millions of lives each year, in addition
help patients with life-threatening illnesses, she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Subhash Sharma said that to mark PM Modi’s 72nd birthday, the BJP has
decided to celebrate it as ‘”Seva Pakhwada”‘. As the Prime Minister describes it as the country’s first “Sewak”, we would like
celebrate “Seva Pakhwada” from today till Gandhi Jayanti. During these 15 days the party
leaders and workers would perform many social works for the benefit of the community, including encouraging
people to pledge to offer their services to fight TB, promote Swachh Bharat,
organize blood donation camps, vaccination camps for the booster dose, adopt water collection plans,
engaging in environmental protection activities and planting saplings.
In Punjab, we will also carry out cleanliness campaigns in 2,000 villages, he said, adding that we have started the
first day of “Seva Pakhwada” by organizing blood donation camps and we hope to collect around
10,000 units of blood in Punjab today.
Among others, Bhanu Partap Rana, Punjab State Youth Chairman and Sanjeev Vashisth, BJP State
member of the executive were also present on occasion.
