Clinical center reorganizing services, increasing staff for pediatric care

Photos and videos of multiple crying infants crammed into multiple hospital beds that have gone viral online are misleading, authorities said.

Online rumors said the footage was shot at a specialized quarantine site for infants and toddlers in Shanghai’s Jinshan district.

But the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center responded on Saturday that the photos and videos were not shot there. The authority said the images showed internal adjustment situations between the center’s pediatric wards.

The center said it was moving pediatric wards to outpatient and emergency buildings to improve the inpatient environment, as the number of babies testing positive for COVID-19 has recently increased.

Medical staff from pediatric hospitals and children’s hospitals and medical teams dispatched from these hospitals are currently caring for the center’s pediatric patients. Medical treatment and daily care were guaranteed.

More pediatric medical teams will be dispatched to improve procedures, treatment and establish timely contact with parents.

The center released some final photos on Saturday after some room adjustments.
