Plumber arrested for destroying hospital equipment

A 21-year-old plumber who became enraged and damaged some equipment at the government health center of Apatrapa in Kwadaso municipality has been taken into custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Issah Mahama is said to have become furious at what he claimed was the slow process for the nurse on duty to provide care to his brother who had been brought to the facility for medical treatment on December 31 of last year. .
In the process, he damaged the thermometer gun, scale, monitor, hospital bed, two plastic chairs, four doors and other items in the health facility.
Mahama has pleaded guilty to the charges and will reappear in the court chaired by Nana Brew for his sentence on January 13 this year.
Police Detective Inspector Francis Opoku told the court that the complainant was a nurse at the government health center in Apatrapa.
He said that at around 11:40 a.m. Mahama, along with others, brought his brother to the facility for medical treatment.
The prosecution said while the nurse on duty was taking the patient’s charts, Mahama got angry and said the process was too slow.
Chief Inspector Opoku said in a fit of anger, Mahama caused damage to several types of equipment at the facility.
A report was made to the Tanoso police who arrested him and brought him to court.
