CHEERS! to members of Wellington Elks Lodge # 566 who continue to meet priority medical equipment needs at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.
Randy Vincent, exalted former leader of the Wellington Elks, presented the hospital’s foundation officials with a gift of $ 1,000 with funds raised through take-out lunches the Elks have provided over the past year.
“The Elks members thank everyone who continues to support our take out dinners,” said Vincent. “Their continued participation in our events helps us raise these funds. The lodge is proud to be able to give back to our community and that includes this donation to our local hospital. It is important to keep our current hospital well equipped as anyone could need these services. The Elks can’t wait to see a new hospital someday, but in the meantime we have to keep the current hospital going.
This year, the goal of the PECM Hospital Foundation is to raise $ 374,000 for essential equipment needed at the current hospital. From blood analyzers and defibrillators to the new ultrasound machine, the list of necessary equipment is long.
“The Elks support many community causes and the hospital foundation is grateful to have been included in their fundraising initiatives over the past 20 years,” said Shannon Coull, CEO of the PECMH Foundation.
Coull stressed how important it is for communities to help fund their local hospitals, through donations to their foundations.
“We cannot equip the hospital with state-of-the-art equipment without donors investing in our hospital. The foundation plays a vital role in funding essential specialist equipment. Donor money goes a long way in improving the care of residents of our community who need treatment near them, ”she said. “We are very grateful to live in this generous community which guarantees us a vibrant hospital equipped with the best medical equipment possible. “
