Residents and businesses of Stoke-on-Trent have come together for a day of charity golf to fund new brain tumor treatment equipment for a local hospital.

Eighteen teams took part in a corporate golf day organized by the Barlaston Golf Club to raise funds for the purchase of equipment enabling surgeons at Royal Stoke University Hospital to target all areas of a tumour.

The kit includes a surgical magnifying camera and laser system and will benefit hundreds of local people each year.

Barlaston Golf Club Commercial Director Terry Adnams said: “We are delighted – not only did we have a great day, but we raised a fantastic amount of money for UHNM Charity, and the visiting teams had a great day fantastic.”

The Barlaston Golf Club has announced that it will hold another fundraising golf day on Friday June 16, 2023.

Lisa Thomson, Director of Communications and Charity at UHNM Charity, said: “It was absolutely amazing.

“I cannot thank Barlaston Golf Club and its members enough – they have been so generous.

“I am delighted that Barlaston Golf Club has agreed to host another fundraiser for UHNM Charity next year when we raise funds for our Staffordshire Children’s Hospital in Royal Stoke, in particular our neonatology department.

“The funds will provide interactive rooms to support children when they arrive at hospital and the latest state-of-the-art equipment for very vulnerable toddlers.”
